Architect on solo mission to rescue Battersea
Architect Sir Terry Farrell is making a solo planning application to save Battersea Power Station from demolition and decline.
He will seek permission to restore and repair the landmark towers and chimneys at a cost of £25 million and to create an urban park in the middle for £18 million.
Sir Terry Farrell, who is the Mayor’s design adviser, decided to submit an application without being commissioned by a developer or landowner.
He said: “I believe that submitting a listed building application is the only way forward now. Our proposal retains the sense of the great void inside as well as the crucial external view of the silhouette.”
