Cineworld Group was founded in 1995 by the current senior management team and is now one of the leading cinema groups in the UK.

The Group currently operates 77 sites (including their newest cinemas in Aberdeen and Witney, both of which opened in October 2009) of which 74 are multiplex sites with five screens or more.

Their portfolio includes fiver out of the ten highest grossing cinemas in the UK and Ireland including the number one and two (Glasgow and Dublin).

In 2008, Cineworld accounted for 45 million admissions and had revenues of £299 million and an Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EBITDA) before exceptional items of £53 million.
