RFU back Saracens’ revised stadium plans

Saracens has received backing from the Rugby Football Union and UK Athletics for their revised proposal to refurbish Barnet Copthall Stadium.

Saracens is planning a major £18m overhaul of the venue, including a refurbishment of existing facilities, new permanent facilities, and the installation of temporary seating.

The current main building of the venue will be redeveloped and a new permanent stand will be constructed for use by athletics and rugby union spectators.

RFU head of funding and facilities Simon Winman said: “We offer our strongest support for the proposals in establishing a sustainable rugby venue for the community and professional game at Copthall Stadium.”
