Teesside Park site design rejected for second time
Plans to transform an eyesore site on Teesside Park with a £7.5m hotel and restaurant development have been rejected for a second time.
Stockton Council’s planning committee yesterday threw out the application by Athenaeum Developments by just seven votes to six.
The proposed development would have seen the former Springs gym demolished to make way for a 66-bed Travelodge hotel, Nando’s restaurant and a Harvester family pub – creating 60 permanent new jobs and a further 60 during construction.
A previous application was refused a year ago on the grounds it would damage the regeneration of Stockton town centre.
