Pan-European investment manager Europa Capital and its local partners, Core Capital and Oakmount, have announced the creation of a new mixed-used development on Dublin’s O’Connell Street called ‘Clerys Quarter’.
The project will involve the transformation of the listed Clerys Building into a leisure, retail and office development, with iconic Clerys features such as the building’s colonnaded façade, internal staircases, columns and ceilings, and the famous Clerys clock all being restored, while Clerys’ original restaurant and bar, The Tea Rooms, will be completely refurbished.
Construction work is expected to start in the first quarter of 2019 and it is anticipated that ‘Clerys Quarter’ will generate more than 400 new employment opportunities upon its planned completion in late 2020.
Hotel, Restaurants And Bars
The ‘Clerys Quarter’ development will feature a new 176-bedroom four-star hotel, a panoramic rooftop restaurant, bar and events venue, and a number of new food and beverage units, as well as new office space spread across two buildings and 5,574 square metres of retail space.
The new hotel will be situated in a transformed former warehouse to the rear of the Clerys building on Earl Place, and will be located within close proximity of the Moxy hotel, a separate new development being undertaken by Tetrarch. These two hotels are planned to anchor the new Earl Place Market, which is set to be the site of a number of new restaurants, cafés and bars.
