Everyman, the upmarket cinema chain, has appointed Alex Scrimgeour as its next chief executive.
Everyman Media Group said Scrimgeour, the previous boss of Côte Restaurants, will lead the company, known for its sofa seating and wine and food menus, from January 18. The 49-year-old succeeds Crispin Lilly who in September tendered his resignation after almost six years as chief executive, in order to pursue personal interests.
The cinema industry has had a very difficult 2020, with temporary site closures due to lockdowns. Cinema owners have also seen a number of film releases delayed since the coronavirus outbreak.
Scrimgeour was boss of the Côte Restaurant chain for the past five years, and Everyman said he was responsible for achieving significant growth whilst navigating difficult market conditions….
