Development approval to spark major Southampton regeneration

Sovereign Centros and Tellon Capital Both Got Consent Last Night For Major Southampton Town Centre Schemes

Southampton City Council has approved Sovereign Centros’ proposals for the £250m regeneration of Leisure World in Southampton.

Sovereign Centros, the development manager for the project, unveiled its initial outline plans for the site in May 2020, proposing a major investment in Southampton city centre opening up new waterfront areas. The scheme comprises a cinema, casino, leisure and wellbeing facilities alongside 650 homes.

There will also be two 150-room hotels, 80 serviced hotel apartments, modern workspace and improved public realm and linkages with the city centre creating more than an estimated 1,000 jobs.

The finished scheme will be centred will link a new urban quarter with the wider city, as well as improving connectivity with Southampton’s historic waterfront. It is set to be built across four phases, with works taking place as follows, commencing in 2022…
