Redevelopment of Guildford Debenhams could include shops, restaurants and access to the river

A new planning application for the redevelopment of Debenhams in Guildford has been submitted.

Property developer Native Land bought the site in December 2020 and proposes to turn the site, now called St Mary’s Wharf, into a new and sustainable riverside destination for the town.

The site has been empty since Debenhams closed its doors in May when the company went into administration.

The submission follows three rounds of public consultation for the creation of a high-quality development with new public access to the River Wey as well as shops, eateries and accommodation.
