The football club wants to create the community facility next to its Bloomfield Road stadium with the help of £6.5m of government funding.
Blackpool FC has lodged an application to build two all-weather fenced and floodlit sports pitches – one full-sized 11-a-side pitch and one FA-sized 5-a-side pitch – on a 5.6-acre site immediately north of the club’s ground.
Supporting infrastructure including changing facilities, parking, and new public realm also feature within the plans, designed by OPEN.
“The pitches will be an important resource intended for use by the local community and also for Blackpool FC’s Women and Girls teams,” a planning statement by Avison Young says.
One of Blackpool Council’s Towns Fund projects, the community sports centre will border the 400-home Foxhall Village residential development.
