Major leisure and office scheme approved for Midlands golf complex

Restaurants, cafes, a nursery, offices and warehouses are set to be built on part of a Leicestershire golf course. A scheme to redevelop a 17-acre area of the Broughton Astley Golf Complex has been given the go-head. Currently, there is a driving range and nine holes at the golf centre, off Coventry Road, with planning permission for another nine holes to be created. Somerset cinema and leisure development draws council investment

PLANS to build a cinema and leisure complex in Bridgwater have taken two steps forward this week. Sedgemoor District Council, which owns the site and will be fully funding the scheme, wants Northgate to become a premier attraction for Bridgwater, complete with a seven-screen cinema, four restaurants, a gym and a car park with 111 spaces. Where UK retail shops are closing fastest

The coronavirus crisis has accelerated the shift away from retail premises towards e-commerce, a new study suggests. Around 300,000 square metres of retail space was lost in England and Wales in the past year, the equivalent of 42 football pitches, said private wealth and property law firm Boodle Hatfield. Manchester lost the largest amount of retail space, followed by Kingston upon Hull, Coventry, Sheffield and Peterborough, said the report.
