Warm weather and Half-Term boost UK retail footfall as restrictions ease

Footfall across UK retail destinations rose by 11.6% last week from the week before, including a 17.4% increase in high streets, according to the latest figures from Springboard. Across last week Springboard also found a 8.7% increase in footfall in shopping centres and a 2.3% increase in retail parks. According a survey by Deloitte, consumer confidence rose by 6% in the first quarter of 2021 to -11% During the first three months of 2021, consumer confidence saw a record quarterly rise thanks to the government’s “roadmap” out of lockdown, according to the latest Deloitte Consumer Tracker. In the firm’s survey of 3,000 UK consumers between 19 and 22 March 2021, while most of the country was still under lockdown measures, consumer confidence increased by 6% to -11%.
