US chain to bring first cinema for 38 years to West Lancashire town

A popular US franchise is to open its first UK cinema at The Concourse Shopping Centre, in Skelmersdale. Star Cinemas, which operates screens in California and Arizona, is poised to deliver an affordable cinema on the ground floor of the centre to further extend the diverse retail and leisure offering available there. When it opens, it will be the first cinema in Skelmersdale since 1982, when the last large screen closed. Urban regenerator, Muse Developments, has submitted an outline planning application for a “game-changing” mixed-use destination, designed to bring increased vibrancy to the heart of Rotherham.
