Warwickshire: new cinema’s starring role in town centre transformation

Plans to regenerate Nuneaton town centre are on the cusp of a major milestone – deciding who will champion the new cinema, bar and restaurant proposals. The Abbey Street part of the Transforming Nuneaton programme will soon have a developer on-board to move it forward. Tiny cinema for Cromarty (population 700) is a “labour of love”

One of the smallest cinemas in the UK has opened in a Highlands village after two years of planning and fundraising. The 35-seat facility in Cromarty has been made possible by EU and Creative Scotland funding as well as grants from trusts and foundations. The project has been led by Cromarty and Resolis Film Society and the Cromarty Film Festival. The first film will be Scottish film-maker Armando Iannucci’s The Personal History of David Copperfield. Greenwich: leisure centre with expanded facilities to open in February

The new Plumstead Centre now has an opening date, with the library, leisure centre and social hub all opening their doors in February after a £16m refurbishment. The Grade II listed building used to house the old Plumstead library, but has undergone a Greenwich Council-led 15-month refurbishment to create a new, modernised library as well as expanding to include a leisure centre, community rooms and a cafe.
