Leisure anchor opens at £142m Warrington mixed use development

Cineworld has opened its 13-screen multiplex cinema within Warrington’s Time Square, the £142m development which also recently saw the completion of first tenant The Botanist. The main leisure anchor for the mixed-use scheme, Cineworld Warrington hosted the first film showings earlier this week. The cinema also incorporates a Starbucks café and a dedicated Baskin Robbins ice cream counter. Hotel and cinema plan approved for Southsea department store site

A former John Lewis store is to be converted into a cinema, hotel and rooftop bar after councillors approved development plans. The Knight & Lee department store in Southsea, Hampshire, shut on 13 July after trading for more than 150 years. The premises were the first to be closed by John Lewis since 2006. Portsmouth City Council member Lee Hunt said he hoped the development would be a “cultural and creative anchor” for the area.
