Stafford: newly ‘saved’ historic cinema fails to sell at auction

The freehold of Stafford Cinema was up for sale by auctioneers Acuitus in London on Wednesday. It had been listed for a guide price of £350,000. Stafford Borough Council had previously said the site could potentially be transformed into a multi-storey development with shops on the ground floor and homes above. Dundee cinema plans falter in challenging market

Plans to build a multiplex cinema on a vacant site in Dundee city centre are on hold – and have been for several months, the Tele understands. The Castlegate Shopping Centre and Swallow Hotel are set to be demolished as part of bold plans to tackle Stockton’s empty shops and open up the town to the river.
